High-rise greenhouses

HIGH-ALTITUDE GREENHOUSES

In recent years, a new trend has emerged in major cities: utilizing unused rooftop spaces for greenhouse cultivation . The best part is that any rooftop is suitable; you simply need to adapt to your specific needs and know the maximum weight capacity of the roof structure.

Agriculture offers many advantages over buildings. This is especially true considering the increasing number of people living in cities, which will become overcrowded and, consequently, highly polluted.

  • It is not necessary to use natural soil; there are cultivation techniques that do not require a substrate.
  • Unused spaces and corners are being used.
  • Pollution is reduced, vegetation traps CO2 and other harmful gases.
  • Natural lighting.
  • Self-sufficiency, installation of renewable energy for lighting, irrigation or automatic greenhouse systems.
  • Sustainability, it is the perfect place for recycling rainwater and cloud water through fog catchers.

There are many ways to get the most out of our vegetable, fruit and greens crops, by learning different cultivation methods and techniques.

The world's largest urban garden

Believe it or not, there are 40 square meters of organic crops growing on the rooftop of an industrial building in Brooklyn, New York. The initiative, called Brooklyn Grange Farm , is a project that promotes rooftop farming in New York City.

The proposal also includes the sale of an " organic food basket " for restaurants and families interested in receiving weekly meals delivered to their homes. They produce more than 22 million tons of healthy food each year.

The project is self-funded through sales, donations, and events such as weddings. It also has a significant social component, offering free instruction on beekeeping, composting, and rooftop gardening. Furthermore, it employs people in need to help maintain the gardens, providing them with a valuable opportunity to earn income and eat healthily.
