Tips for caring for your cacti

We all know that cacti are the latest trendy plant, perhaps because they're easy to care for, because they adapt to modern life due to their low maintenance requirements, or simply because they're beautiful. Cacti can go for long periods without water, but they're not the only plants with this ability. Cacti are known for growing in extremely dry areas. But even though they can adapt to minimal watering, it doesn't mean they don't need any attention.

Light is essential for a cactus to continue growing. Cacti with spines need direct sunlight, although they can adapt to shady conditions. There are different types of cacti, so each one will require a different light environment. Although cacti can adapt to drought, they still need water. The type of cactus and the region will determine how much water it needs. In summer, you'll need to water it every week; in spring and autumn, every two to four weeks; however, in winter you should restrict watering because the cactus goes dormant.

Temperature is another factor to consider. Most cacti adapt to temperatures between 7 and 35 degrees Celsius. They typically thrive in the sharp temperature difference between day and night. Cactus growth occurs at night.

The perfect time to fertilize cacti is during their growing season, ideally between spring and autumn. Fertilizing cacti is strictly prohibited in winter. The frequency of fertilization should be approximately once a month. The fertilizer should contain nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus.

Finally, you should consider the possibility of diseases or pests affecting your cactus, the size of the pot, the potting mix, and how to repot your plant. These are some tips to help your cactus grow strong. Do you already have one?
